Enterprises 'looking beyond the basics of unified comms'

Businesses are beginning to explore the "wider spectrum" of unified communications, beyond just email and telephony, according to research.

Industry analyst Frost and Sullivan states the solution is being deployed by organisations as they seek to remain productive and deliver the "best service in the shortest time".

The organisation predicts the unified communications market will grow by 13 per cent this year and reach revenues of $4.55 billion (£2.3 billion).

Manoj Menon, partner at the group, says growth is the "top priority" for all business and by looking at the technology they hope to stay focused on their customers and remain productive.

"Unified communications holds the key to enhanced team collaboration, improved business processes and increased cost savings," he adds.

A recent study by Dimension Data found 62 per cent of IT managers in UK-based enterprise-sized organisations now view the solution as an important part of the IT and business telecoms setup.
